Royal Life Saving Lifeguard Training Course Starts this Month at Inverell Aquatic Centre
On 26 and 27 April, Inverell Aquatic Centre will be hosting a Pool Lifeguard training course run by Royal Life Saving. Applicants will then be qualified to apply for employment at the newly opened aquatic centre.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old, however they do not require any prior experience to sign up for the course which offers qualifications in lifesaving, first aid and CPR.
In 2023/2024 a total of 323 people drowned in Australian waterways – a 16% increase on the 10-year average according to Royal Life Saving Society Australia.
Royal Life Saving Society Australia General Manager – Capability & Industry, RJ Houston said “Royal Life Saving research has shown that aquatic industry workers gain enjoyment and satisfaction from making a positive impact on people’s lives and helping make people be safe around water.
“We also know that these roles are really attractive to students or people looking for a more flexible career option. Not only do pool lifeguards get to enjoy the social nature of their jobs, exercise and keep fit, they keep our communities safe.”
